Meet The Team

Paul Connor - MCIPD
Managing Consultant

Paul's early HR career was spent at Marconi before moving to Hewlett Packard. He has also worked for Digital, Nortel and General Datacom in various HR, training and line management roles. In 1992 he established The Connor Consultancy to help businesses and people reach their full potential.

Paul remains a frontline practitioner and is highly regarded in the industry for providing strategic support to VP's, MD's and senior management teams, helping to link business and people practices to achieve business results. He has extensive knowledge in the areas of business strategy, restructuring of companies, mergers and acquisitions, leadership and management development programmes and all aspects of performance management.

Paul is innovative and inquisitive and has the knack for getting to the heart of the problem. He has the ability to tackle complex issues, coming up with pragmatic solutions and communicating the answer in plain English.

Paul is married with two children (Jessica and Abigail). His main hobby is running and he is the Men's Captain of his local running club, the Marlow Striders. The next time you are driving through Marlow that man in the black peaked hat that you have just passed, could well have been Paul!

Fraser Silvey - BSc (Hons) MA MCIPD MIOD
Commercial Director

Fraser has over 12 years of experience in the HR and Training and Development arena gained firstly in the Engineering industry with Bechtel where he worked on a number of projects including the Channel Tunnel High Speed Rail link and then with M W Kellogg where he managed HR on number of construction sites around the world including Nigeria and Norway. He joined The Connor Consultancy in 2000 as a Senior Consultant and became a Director in 2005.

His wide ranging expertise covers designing and delivering a number of HR services including Training and Development, Employment Law, Outplacement, and Performance Management. Fraser's natural curiosity and business brain makes him passionate about understanding his clients businesses and delivering projects which are 100% relevant to their world, with his clients viewing him as an extension of their organisation.

Fraser is married with two children (Aidan and Lara) and with what little spare time he has left, he plays cricket for Royal Ascot and is harbouring ambitions to walk Hadrian's Wall (90 miles) in 3 days, we'll let you know how far he gets!

Denise Binks - BA, D.I.S (Hons) CIPD
Senior Consultant

Denise's early HR career was spent with Thorn EMI before moving to IBM. She has also worked for Bull (formerly Honeywell) Information Systems and Sequent where she specialised in leadership development for Sequent Europe. In 1999 Denise joined Equant where she was HR Director for Equant's global travel systems division; she also lead the worldwide restructuring programme for HR during a three-way merger between Equant, SITA and Global One.

Denise joined The Connor Consultancy in 2004. Denise is able to provide a 'hands-on' approach to everyday HR activities as well as applying her specialist knowledge of restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, leadership and management development and performance management.

Client testimonials describe Denise as an 'unusually capable Project Manager' (many HR people are not apparently!), who builds successful teams and focuses them on delivering results. With a wealth of professional experience to call on she is able to generate results in all HR disciplines, networking effectively across the organisation and externally as required.

Denise was an international swimmer in her youth and still enjoys swimming to ease the tensions of the M25. She is a keen hill walker and recently she spent 3 months walking 6 of the Great Walks in New Zealand. More local favourite spots include the Lakes and the South Downs. Denise lives in Weybridge, Surrey.

Rob Da Costa - BSc (Hons) CIM
Head of Marketing

Rob joins The Connor Consultancy as an Head of Marketing. He brings with him 20 years of business acumen.

He graduated with a Degree in Computer Science and after spending a couple of years as a bad programmer, had the fortune to move into a marketing role! He flourished in the marketing environment and after spending time as the Marketing Manager for a software company he left to venture out on his own and started a PR and marketing firm which he ran for 11 years until its sell in 2003.

He has helped organisations develop messaging and branding, and build strategies for new markets and new products. He has been instrumental in the development and launch of a number of new products including a food service reward loyalty scheme and a corporate version of TicketMaster. Most recently Rob has been providing business consultancy to growing organisations, with a focus on sales and marketing strategies.

In his spare time, as well as walking miles with his dog, Rob is the director of a youth performing arts charity. Skiing, scuba diving and yoga are all Rob's interests in the pursuit of staying healthy and young!
