The Challenge

Connexions are a government funded organization that offers young people aged 13-19 advice and guidance on any issue that they face be this personal or occupationally related. We have provided in 2008 two outplacement programmes for two of the regions; Birmingham and Solihull and Hampshire.

We were told by both organizations that we:

* really understand the culture of their business and the make-up
of their people and they felt that we were part "of their family".
* They really liked the fact that we customized the programme to
meet the needs of different types and levels of individuals. Our service was genuinely adapted so that everybody felt that they were receiving their own personal service.
* They liked the fact that we were genuinely interested in the
welfare of the individuals; really understanding where they were and what they wanted.
* We were sensitive to the budget available and adapted our
approach to deliver a superior service within the budget.
* People felt that they were being supported NOT processed and had the continuity of ONE point of contact throughout the process.
* They also liked the fact they we formed on-line outplacement
networking support groups were individuals could ask questions of each other and support each other if they felt down.
* Many people commented that we "really knew our stuff" on how the job market really is! It was also commented on that we didn't come over as Consultants but as warm genuine people who they really connected with. They mentioned that we actually cared!
* Comments on our flexibility was noted, ie a flexible programme,
flexible delivery mechanisms, flexible support etc
* Positive comments on our materials as being real world based and easy to follow and apply.

The Business Issues

"A decision was made to transfer the funding for South Central Connexions directly to Local Authority control, as a result over 40 employees were identified as being at risk of imminent redundancy and we decided to appoint an Outplacement Provider who could assist our employees to find alternative employment fast.
