According to a recent survey, less than four percent of employees who participated in an outplacement programme held any negative feelings toward their previous employer. In addition, nearly two thirds of UK employees who experienced an outplacement programme meet frequently with former colleagues to catch up and network. Finally, over 60% per cent of laid-off UK employees said that an outplacement programme would be an important factor when it came to choosing their next employer.
These results show that if an organisation has an effective exit strategy via an outplacement programme then not only can it be seen as an ethical organisation by those who are leaving, but also by those who remain and those who may come in the future. The benefits of being an ethical organisation are improved productivity, morale and application rates for new jobs.
